Schwebel's Bakery Outlet

5345 Canal Road / Unit A
Valley View, OH 44125
216-520-3677

Don't let the name "outlet" fool you. Schwebel's Bakery Outlet is more than discounted loaves of bread. While they do offer deep discounts on breads soon to expire (perfect for charities, etc.), they also have tons of items that aren't expiring tomorrow. Hamburger and hotdog buns, bagels, pitas, cinnamon and raisin breads can also be found among the usual bread loaves. Coupons can be found on their site, too.

Other items offered are gravy mixes, jellies, cookies, crackers, pretzels and chips. Lately, we've seen AriZona Teas, freezer pops and Herrs brand chips. Items can vary week to week - so it is worth visiting often to see what's new. And don't forget they have snack cakes and breakfast treats, too.

Their location on Canal Road is a seven minute drive from Mill Creek (near Burger King and next to Gourmand's and Mr. Hero). Their hours are 9 am - 7 pm M-F, 9 am - 6 pm Saturdays and 9:15 am - 5:00 pm Sundays. Visa and MasterCard are accepted if you forget cash.

When you pay them a visit, let them know you're from Mill Creek - the staff will be happy to meet you and that you're shopping local.

Cozumel Restaurante and Cantina

5555 Brecksville Road
Independence, OH 44131
216-447-1070

If you're looking for flavors from Mexico, but want to travel less than 3 miles from Mill Creek, check out Cozumel. (Located right in front of the Days Inn and across Brecksville Road from Panini's.)

Based on the cars in the parking lot, here's a healthy crowd for lunch and dinner on weekdays. On a recent Saturday night visit, we had about a 20 minute wait.

A basket of tortilla chips is presented quickly once you are seated. They are warm and salted. The salsa's medium in heat and somewhat liquid. They offer pico de gallo if you prefer a chunkier option and the guacamole has strong lime flavor and is savory. Prices are reasonable for cervezas as well as margaritas.

They don't drown your food in sour cream, so you can taste the authentic ingredients. If you do like sour cream, they'll gladly add it on the side. Vegetarian selections are available and they'll accommodate other menu items per your request.

Our group ordered steak fajitas (large enough to share if you aren't too hungry), a la carte grilled chicken soft tacos and for the heat enthusiast, the fire burrito. Expect to pay about $25 for two - more if you are enjoying spirits. Carry out is available, but it is worth the stay for the chips & salsa.

For repeat customers, they offer the belly card. And being less than 3 miles away, it's easy to earn points redeemable for future visits.
